Tim Wigmore at Sussex 164-1 v Derbyshire
Sussex have the lead, which Ed Joyce celebrates by lofting Wayne Madsen straight onto the press box for his second six. He might be rekindling some unhappy memories for Derbyshire, against whom he scored his career best 250 earlier in the month. I suspect - given concerns about the forecast in the coming days, and how much more they need a first win of the season to further their promotion hopes - Sussex will try and accelerate in the remainder of the day. There are 45 overs left: ideally Sussex would like a lead of 200 to put them in a position to have a thrash tomorrow morning and then declare after getting full bonus points.

Paul Edwards at Yorkshire 187-5 v Lancashire
Excellent stuff from Yorkshire's batsmen here. Having ridden their luck with a slices through gully and inside edges to fine leg, Rashid and Bresnan are now playing with increasing confidence and every run is being cheered. Each of Wagner's bouncers is being mocked, too. Rashid and Bresnan have now added 113 for the sixth wicket and Lancashire's attack is suddenly looking rather limited on a wicket that is flattening out after offering plenty of help to Jarvis with the new ball. Either way, we have a battle truly joined and on outcome which is much more to the taste of home supporters.
