And I meant we actually can't talk about him, try typing his name out and posting it. Go on, I dare ya.

morning all. Interesting write up of the Surrey game: appears Davies is off and Somerset have been named: not sure if this is mere speculation or has some substance to it? WE could certainly do with a decent number 5 and a 'keeper...

Foakes is 23 and in his first season behind the stick full time, clearly has the talent to be a Test Standard keeper of old but not sure exposing him to 26 cameras and a full crowd is the way to go if there are other options

Interesting views the Surrey management team expressed to their members about 5 posts down on Trevor Bayliss, T20 Cricket ect
All Roy needs is a few more ODI runs and he is off to India

Thanks for that Nick. Dire stuff re. T20s: the only thing worse than franchise cricket would be trying to fit both franchise and and county T20 into the already-packed schedule.
:D at 'George Dobble'.

Alec Stewart on comms. last night basically browbeat Ed Smith into backing him up on JRoy for Tests. Seems bound to happen, and fail, sooner rather than later. Surprised about Foakes, not sure it'll affect anything. Not surprised that Trevor 'All Aggression All The Time' Bayliss doesn't like Ballance.

You know Ed Smith, he is often inspired by others work...
England have flipped it used to be any performances in a Test would get the player an ODI call up as a reward, now its the opposite. Bayliss is known more for his success in white ball cricket so not too surprising that it values it highly, and Ballance had the chance to score more runs and make his position not up for debate

The longer TB stays in the position, the more I feel we need a red ball and a white ball coach.

Does anyone know who apart from Amir is a likely signing for Essex next year ? Without foster , Napier and masters they will need penetration in div 1 ?. Any views

England picked Compton after a season averaging 39, Ballance averaging mid 30's and James Vince averaging 30 in Division one cricket, I do wonder if they understand how a table of averages works and more runs is better
by nickcricket8/25/2016 9:45:46 AM
@Nick, England always have a habit of picking players the season after they do well. It was the same with the Middlesex opener, had a stellar season and then started badly, so they pick him the next season. Rarely do England pick a 'form player'
