CricinfoDavid Hopps: Ian Westwood had the right to imagine that all eyes at Chester-le-Street were upon him. They weren't but perhaps in a perfect world they would have been. After all, he had answered Warwickshire's call in times of need

We fielded a seven man team last Saturday because half our regulars refuse to play against one of the teams in the division as they're so unpleasant.

I played for years in the middle 80s to 90s, only ever came across one real big mouth. Unfortunately he was in my team. That was my last season. Looks like a recent thing. To be honest the thing I remember most fondly about my playing was the camaraderie.

Vithushan Ehantharajah at Gloucestershire 221 v Kent 490-6
For the longest time, it seemed fitting that Sam Billings' highest score in limited overs was greater than his first-class best. That quirk seems in serious danger. Since Darren Stevens fell after the restart – we've lost 15 overs by the way and tea will be at 4pm – Billings has taken the lead role and has just put the ball where he's wanted.... hold on, he's out! Reaching 171, he gives Liam Norwell the charge but miscues towards Craig Miles at mid off, who takes a relatively simple catch. Upon turning to walk back to the changing room, Billings went to uppercut his stumps, before pulling the punch just before impact. He looks furious. Ah well, that List A 175 still glistens upon high...

Part of the reason why I've not played for three years. Every team (including my own) has at least one or two players who simply can't keep their trap shut and think they're God's gift to 'banter', which regularly got out of hand. Just wasn't fun anymore.
