Melinda Farrell at Yorkshire 270-6 v Middlesex 270
Azeem Rafiq is given another life, this time dropped by Ollie Rayner at second slip after edging James Franklin. Rafiq is now on 42 and Tim Bresnan is 88 and nearing what would be a brilliant rescue century for his club. Yorkshire's rear guard action has certainly been admirable.

Jon Culley at Warwickshire 33-1 v Lancashire
In contrast to Southampton, this September morning in Birmingham could not be more glorious, although appreciating the blue sky and gentle sunshine from the inside of a stationery vehicle on the M6 was not so easy. My appreciation grew, however, when a glance towards the scoreboard as I walked into the lobby at Edgbaston revealed that I'd missed no wickets, only to diminish again when I emerged from today's working lift to discover a wicket had fallen between floors, that of Alex Mellor. Replays on the Lancashire website revealed that he shouldered arms to a ball from Tom Bailey that came back a little but not hugely. That was 13-1, since which time the lead has been extended to 100. Jonathan Trott looks in good nick. Lancashire will struggle to win from here.
