Jon Culley at Nottinghamshire 474 v Lancashire 48-0
Nottinghamshire's second highest team total of the season gave them a first innings lead of just shy of 200, putting them well in command of this match. No one made a century but seven players scored between 43 and 67 and even Harry Gurney, a genuine No 11, chipped in with an unbeaten 12, only the eighth time he has been in double figures in a first-class match in 95 innings.
Their afternoon has been tarnished slightly, however, by an injury to Riki Wessels, who has been keeping wicket in the continued absence of Chris Read. He did some damage - one assumes to a finger - when he dived to make a stop to his left with Stuart Broad bowling. He was able to continue after lengthy treatment on the field but went off a couple of overs later, with Brendan Taylor taking over behind the stumps. Legspinner Imran Tahir is into his fourth over and Lancashire trail by exactly 150.
