Got to 50 with a SR of 81.96 maybe after watching Compton in the test he realised that their combined method of taking 18 balls to get off the mark and 30 to get 3 is not a great way to start an innings

Funny one as Billings isn't in the ODI squad, he is in the T20 squad I suppose as its only one game they have go those guys in early. Personally feel you could make a serious case for Billings to play ahead of Bairstow given the extra white ball cricket he has played this year
Hope Brown can push on and turn it into a really big one, much better contributor than his average of 28 would suggest
by nickcricket6/21/2016 10:38:40 AM
I actually think Billings is a stronger one day player than t20

jacobnewbury - Hope he gets a chance at some point in a decent batting slot not down at 7

Seems to be a feel on here that players should be picked based on how much of one format they play... I understand that Buttler shouldn't play test cricket because he's sold his soul to T20 and not played any CC games. However just because Bairstow has excelled and focused at test cricket doesn't mean he should be shunted for the one dayers... same goes to Broad.
by Andrei Rhodes6/21/2016 10:47:16 AM
Surely there is a case for Buttler and Bairstow starting in the Test XI? Buttler has way too much talent to be ignored and is the superior keeper. His brief sojourn to the IPL shouldn't count against him IMO.
by Martin Bunt6/21/2016 10:48:54 AM
Agree with your point but the way Bairstow has played in Tests and when he has actually played for England in List A cricket he has performed recently. But generally, I agree with you
by jacobnewbury6/21/2016 10:49:00 AM
Broad's problem is that he didn't play his last one day attempt well, and that fast bowlers get more miles in their legs, get tired more easily, than batsmen. A one-day-playing Broad might be more tired, and less effective, in Tests. You can't say that as much for Bairstow.

I just think the best players should play, and I know you get one day specialists, but just because whilst Broad and Bairstow have been playing test cricket, Billings and Tymal Mills for example have played well in the Royal London, it doesn't mean that they are necessarily better one day players...
