Durham v Nottinghamshire 107-2
We are playing at Trent Bridge where, on the eve of flaming June, the floodlights are shining bright against a uniformly grey sky. Rain is forecast for this afternoon but, even if there is not a full day's play, a result need not necessarily be seen as impossible. Durham won here in 2013 by scoring 182 in barely 20 overs. Last year, Notts won by bowling Durham out for 162 in 40 overs. A wicket has already fallen, the manner of which adds further weight to the all-is-not-lost theory. Putting his back into an intended bouncer, Graham Onions dismissed Greg Smith leg before with a ball that hit him below the knee as the unlucky batsman shaped to pull it. Notts are 194 in front with 92 overs left in the match.

Paul Edwards at Yorkshire 236 v Lancashire
It will be very difficult for Lancashire to get within 60 runs of this target (349) and it will be one of the results of the season if they chase it down. We have 40 overs today, eight before tea, and both Brooks and Bresnan are steaming in like battle cruisers, the latter spurred on by a perceived injustice when he was given out caught at slip when he thought the ball had hit the ground at the same time as Livingstone pouched it. Light may be an issue here later on but it should also be said that the cricket today has been of a very high standard. Much respect to those who believe Lancs will win in 140 overs or fewer; it would be something to see...
