The ECB could share the 'good fixtures' a little more evenly, not giving Durham fixtures against the 2nd tier nations in early May whilst Surrey continue to get 2 tests at prime time every summer, but in their defence, the Oval will sell out whereas CLS isn't always guaranteed to.

@JoeTWilliams Yes, but surely that's a reason to give CLS the bigger games and give the Oval smaller games since they'll probably sell out anyway?
by Sam Dyer9/13/2016 12:06:09 PM
Atleast they could arrange a T20 or two at CLS every year. I think Oval is a constant fixture every single series. Lords and Oval, maybe Trent Bridge apart, other grounds dont have many games. Taunton is one such ground, it will be a sell out most of the time if matches are played there.

@SamDyer catch 22 situation really isn't it
by Joe T Williams9/13/2016 12:12:17 PM
Well that was a bit toss. Got the third batting point, hurray - really should have pushed for all five. No idea how to judge the pitch now.

Would go totally the other way with England T20 matches, I would look bigger if England are only going to do two a year then they should get a drop in pitch and do it at a football ground
by nickcricket9/13/2016 12:19:04 PM
Surely Lord's having two Tests every year is more a cause for complaint than the Oval getting one? The Oval does generally sell out, though I'm sure nobody would mind much if they hosted one of the early games for a change. I'm sure the Sri Lankans would rather have played an extra Test in London.

@StaggerBreaths When that Sussex wicket came in, I genuinely thought it was going to be Jordan after your comment..

Not a bad effort from Miguel this.

David Taylor - I sort of lump them together 3 of the 7 Tests of the summer are in London, they have much higher ticket prices than can be charged elsewhere and sell more tickets but they also get the schedule behind them. Edgbaston this year started on a Wednesday so the Oval could start on its normal day. I know Lords are worried about the talked about drop to 6 Tests a summer
by nickcricket9/13/2016 12:26:06 PM
Wait what? I'm worried about a drop to 6 Tests a summer! What's going to happen instead?
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2016 12:26:57 PM
Sounds like Old Trafford may get a bit of a soaking at some point during the afternoon
by Mark Boyle9/13/2016 12:27:27 PM
They might even need to give Middlesex more than they earn at Richmond to play their T20 games at Lords! Heaven forbid
