Vince did have a horrific first few months in Div 1, but by the second half of the season it appear he was adjusting.

Gidman Gulf is a beautiful name for it.

Taylor (and the Currens) had (have) youth on their side, so you would expect there to be a period of adjustment. The real test is when seasoned pros at the height of their power don't step up

I am going to call it the Gidman Gulf from now on. I have seen interviews with players where they have talked about it, think it is widened to the point where its a real thing not just Div 1 snobbery like 10 years ago. The umpires would be the people to ask I guess
Of course Lancs have got a few players who weren't good enough for second div who are now playing well in Div 1, Hammed and Livingstone

Lose the toss, made to bat on the then hottest day of the year, conceded 311 for 4 on the first day, then 400 in the first innings, before going onto win by 10 wickets. Good for Somerset, but serious questions for Notts.

Wondering how much Taylor's unfortunate retirement is having an effect on Notts personally, they really don't seem right do they?
by SDHoneymonster7/20/2016 2:36:06 PM
Anyway naming aside, It would be interesting to know that the selectors think of the gap but they won't say anything because if one of them is quoted as saying Div 2 performances are not good enough for England for England call up I would guess lot of players would want a move
by nickcricket7/20/2016 2:36:45 PM
The problems started earlier SDHM, they were really languishing last season before pulling themselves together. The Taylor thing definitely wouldn't hurt.

StaggerBreaths - Those guy are talked about (Browne, Westley) but they haven't been selected. Only a guess but I would think that the selection of Ballance was backed by Cook.

Notts were only saved by the introduction of Moores has some sort of positive thinking guru. kind of shows he is only good for 6 months or so...
