just checked the div 2 table for the first time in a while and very surprised to see Glos 'up there'. Potential dark horses? But, yes, i ado generally agree regarding Worc. Really exciting group of young players

@Nickcricket, i'm assuming Abel is fit again now as he has played for the seconds a few times, but is being kept out by Myburgh, so they could bring him in at 5 and move Allenby etc all down one. If an extra bowler is needed, Trego is still good to turn his arm over as a relieve bowler.

I do wish the ECB Reporters Network didn't try to write as though to a football audience.

@Neil, the same principle as playing tests in Durham: Trying to get cricket out there to the masses, but aiming at the wrong markets!

dave - Team full of openers Somerset Tresco, Abell, Myburgh and Rogers. Would be sad is Abell couldn't get a gig somewhere in the lineup

Hampshire 126-6....McClaren 1*, Berg 4* trail by 88 runs...minimum of 26 overs left today

Would be tempted to stick Abell back to open and move Myburgh who I know has done well but with Trescothick advancing in years and Rogers an overseas I wouldn't want to be in the potion of losing a whole top three in the off season. Hard though when Abell's record this season is modest

UPDATE // 35 overs gone: Glamorgan are 134/4. Rudolph 38*, Lloyd 15*. Need 60 runs to win with 6 wickets in hand #GLAvDER

it is a tough one. Rogers is batting 3 as Somerset wanted Abel to open due to the problems you note, Nick. However, apart from a ton there has been little success this year. a few games down the order might allow him to score some soft runs to get confidence up etc before returning to the top next year? I would also be reluctant to fiddle too much with a winning side: Myburgh done really well in both innings and got a ton the other day as well. Tricky...

.@BuckRogers55 : "That is one of the more incredible games I’ve played in. To lose the toss was a hammer blow"
dave - Dangerous letting a player slip into the comfort position at 5, Atherton I remember salivating about the summer he spent at 5. Don't know much about Myburgh is he a career opener? Obviously he can't just be a stand in or else they would have promoted Rogers.

Sometimes like Root they never return
