Vithushan Ehantharajah at Hampshire 423 & 14-0 v Surrey 637-7
It was in keeping with the last three days that the only ball to do something off the straight so far has been Aaron Finch's throw from the deep that clattered into the stumps at the nonstriker's end to run out Brad Wheal. Lewis McManus, who finished on 133 not out, was trying to get back on strike after working a ball from Stuart Meaker just beyond bat pad. That meant Hants were 214 behind and subsequently asked to follow on. Perhaps McManus fancied carrying on, but Will Smith and Jimmy Adams have come out and batted resolutely. The bat has been beaten a few times but no edges or appeals have been forthcoming. Jade Dernbach, on as sub, was shining the ball well enough for Stuart Meaker to get some good reverse swing yesterday. More of the same will be required today if anything more is to happen in this match.
