Mo may well be batting 5 for England this tour, Cook, (an openerDuckett/Hameed), Root, Duckett/Roy (please not Ballance), Ali, Stokes, Bairstow, Woakes, Rashid, Broad, Anderson. Always a chance they play 3 spinners and don't bother with the Duckett/roy spot I've got at 4 and they move everyone up, but whatever side they pick, the batting will be a massive concern and the spin bowling will be mediocre at best.

A bit more time at Surrey without 26 Sky Camera on him and he might become that mix of Keeper and batsmen that everyone wants. At the moment I worry that he is going to be crucified every time he makes a mistake and won't be scoring Bairstow runs to off set it

Please not Roy

Cook, Hameed, Root, Ballance, Ali, Stokes, Bairstow, Woakes, Rashid, Wood/Broad, Anderson is the test XI I expect for most matches.

Why have you both shunted Mo up to 5 out of interest? Would also love to see Duckett come in for Ballance

Cook, Jennings/Hameed, Root, Ballance, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, Rashid, Batty/Leach, Anderson for me. Would have 3 spinners, 3 seamers and a solid line up.

Whilst I would have no objection to Duckett in the team, I am slightly surprised at the lack of "he's only scored Div 2 runs and they don't count" comments that usually are present when other Div 2 contenders are discussed?

Think if they want to play 3 spinners which may well be a case in India, Mo will need to bat at 5. Just can not have Ballance at all, he's not good enough when he's playing well and he's been absolute garbage for the last month.
by DougyX29/14/2016 11:09:55 AM
Because Stokes should stay at 6, and I like Bairstow at 7. Ali is awful at 8. I think at most grounds 2 spinners and Root will be plenty - there's only a couple that usually spin enough to make 3 worth considering.

DougyX2 - Ballance got got a ton against Notts and a 71 against Durham!

Personally, I think that if his back is up to it, then Root should be used as the 2rd spin option
by Joe T Williams9/14/2016 11:11:41 AM
If they are to replace Ballance, maybe they can play Jennings and Hameed then
by Aneesh Kumar9/14/2016 11:11:45 AM
Runs against Notts don't count.
by DougyX29/14/2016 11:11:57 AM
for clarity, that was supposed to be Root as the 3rd spin option....stupid typo
by Joe T Williams9/14/2016 11:12:52 AM
I don't personally think they will replace ballance given the changes they already have to make to the line up, Vince and Hales. But long term Ballance not upto it imo.

If Root and Bairstow we're eligable for Yorks selection, Ballance may not even make the Yorks team at the moment never mind the test side
