I think the irritation to us Yorkies is not so much about Root not playing, that's fair enough he's played non stop for what seems like 3 years now, but Bairstow has hardly played in the last month and holding him back seems a bit tenuous, that coupled with the announcement at the time that Willey, Rashid and Plunkett were being considered as off limits does seem to be a little harsh, do you not think?

Morning Matt, must admit this does not look a good match for Hampshire.

Bairstow does seem a little harsh but I guess the logic is that with a busy winter ahead and him established as the #1 keeper (and a key bat to boot) they can't risk him breaking a finger. I agree with the earlier point that Plunkett, Rashid and Willey all should be available.

If breaking a finger was a concern, i'd happily have taken YJB as just a bat, esp given that Lehmann isn't in todays sqaud either

Yes, certainly a tough fixture. But I expected us to get relegated last season, so this season has just been a bonus really!

Joe I think for me it's two things: the incessant level of complaining, so that I can no longer tell (since I don't pay much attention to the actual activity) when it's actually moanworthy or whether it's just chuntering; and the accusations of ECBias (Andrew Strauss being a Middlesex doyen and that) which I just find funny. Sorry old chap, it ain't great to lose some of your best players, although Willey is not a great miss in FC anyway. I'd prioritise the CC above a meaningless one-off T20, as I'm sure you know.

Now can we get rid of most of these county Twitter accounts please? Like at least half of them.

Surrey are perfunctory, Warks. are dull, Notts. and Glam. bombard the feed with huge pictures...
